Missions

Flinders Street Baptist Church has a history of missionaries beginning with Ellen Arnold and Marie Gilbert who went to India in 1882. The Missionary Honour Roll on the western wall of the church building commemorates the procession of Flinders Street missionaries. Among the luminaries were Arthur Summers, Silas Mead’s son Cecil, Sheila Draper, Bessie Schaefer, the brothers Bawden Bob and Max, and Rosalind Gooden. The full list features women and men who have served overseas. FSBC continues the missionary tradition with praying for and giving to Baptist World Aid at Christmas, Crossover Australia at Easter, May Missions Month, and Jam Jar offering for Symbiosis in Jamalpur Bangladesh.
