Governance

Flinders Street Baptist Church is a member of the Baptist Churches SA & NT. The church has a Ministry Leadership Team consisting of two elders, the treasurer, and five other leaders with various responsibilities. In accord with historic Baptist principles, the mind of Christ is sought through the Members’ Meeting which appoints the MLT to exercise governance. There is scope for further members of the MLT. The well-maintained State Heritage building complex includes the chapel, the pipe organ, the church office, halls, and facilities. The financial costs are considerable. Our church is independently run and is funded by its members. Income includes office rent, organising events hire, and managed investment funds. Traditionally the church employs a full-time Senior Pastor and the part-timers have consisted of an Administrator, Music Director, and Cleaner. However, it is financially possible to expand the team with new positions. In the past there has been an Assistant Pastor. The leadership is constantly and prayerfully exploring and improving our financial outcomes. Our goals are to be of Christian service in a generous way to the City of Adelaide and to utilise our heritage buildings for generations to come.
